TOTVS - Analytics V&D
The objective of the project was to deliver a solution that generated inputs to assist in decision making, initially targeting the context of logistical performance, and then expanding to all fronts of the V&D (Retail and Distribution) tower.
PROJECT SUMMARY
We talked to 36 people, including internal employees and customers, to talk about their decision-making needs.
The research project served to build a solution that technically will serve not only the researched context (logistic performance), but also all areas within the Retail and Distribution tower having access to information for decision making.
In addition, hypotheses were validated about the initial idea of using Carol (TOTVS' artificial intelligence platform) in this project, as well as about customers' restrictions on the manipulation and use of their data.
PROJECT STEPS
- Interviews
We selected 9 companies from different segments (pharma, grocery, food service, perfumery and cosmetics, construction materials) according to the defined extreme profiles.

So we were able to talk to 11 people between January 16th and 22nd, 2020.
- Affinity diagram
After conducting the interviews, we analyzed the qualitative information collected through the affinity diagram in order to identify and clarify problems or opportunities by grouping the speeches and opinions according to their similarity.
The information collected was used in the process of generating stories to identify user needs. These stories represent the main points to be worked on within the ideation workshop.
15 challenges were generated and of these, 5 were chosen to be taken to the workshop.
- Ideation workshop
The workshop took place on January 28, 2020. We had the presence of 12 people, 4 customers and 8 internal employees.
- Concept validations
The ideas generated in the workshop can and should be used to solve the needs raised at the time of analysis. After analyzing the ideas and prioritizing some, we started with low-fidelity prototyping. The Prototype is used to validate the concepts of ideas, being quick to create, efficient in passing the concept and having low cost.
We validated with 9 companies, speaking with 12 people, according to the extreme profiles defined in the project. After the validations, it was possible to analyze the feedbacks and iterate the concept of the prototypes.
- Usability validations
We validate with 4 people from different companies. After the validations, it was possible to analyze the feedbacks and iterate the concept of the prototypes.
- Solution found
TOTVS Distribuição e Varejo Analytics by Carol, also known as Analytics V&D, is the official platform of Distribution and Retail tower to provide relevant indicators to customers.
The product was not designed to be a customer indicator maker.
So how are the indicators present in Analytics V&D?
Through research and validation in UX processes, we found powerful indicators that are previously modeled to provide data that give customers visibility of the operation, so that they can make decision using these indicators.
